Everything I have read tells me that the water needs of a family should include 4 gallons of water per person per day. We will be investing in some water collection devices, and I can always hop on my bike and make a 10 mile drive to the closest river when needed, but man would it be nice to have a local inventory – thus the water drums. I purchased 5 55 gallon drums yesterday. Since we have a family of 5; I think this will store enough for 3 months. I plan to pick up 5 more on Friday (that is all I could fit in our van). These were $36 each before tax.
Of all the things needed in the event of an infrastructure collapse, water is the most critical. Fortunately, it seems to be one of the easiest for which to prepare.
